Team Lead, Engineering
I have worked in tech industry since 14 years on different domains spanning from finance, education, ecommerce, travel and hospitality. Worked on technologies spanning from the world of CGI /PERL, C, JSF to now gRPC, Scala+Play. Have lived and seen different project methodologies from waterfall to scrum to kanban. Other than working in corporate world I have great interest in hackathon and have participated and won in several hackathons. I have experience and learnings working in different parts of US and with teams in multiple countries for different projects - Ukraine, Costa Rica, Israel, India, Ireland, Australia. Some of the projects I'm proud of 1. "Look Ma No Flash" - Hackathon held at Kaplan Test Prep in 2011. We all know kids these days are savvy and want to prep for their exams in iPad and iPhone. Kaplan was still using flash for the prep tools. In this hackathon we developed a html5/css3 app using javascriptMVC that consumed the restful webservice that was being used by flash app of Kaplan. We demoed the app in iPad and won the prize. 2. Solution and Simulation of drone for "Fishackathon". This hackathon was conducted by Department of State to support the under developed countries to remove illegal fishing. State was going to provide Android phones to fisherman. We developed an app that will scan the legal boats that are going for fishing and help the ocean police to track legal and illegal boats in the ocean at any given point of time. 3. Alexa skill for SeatGeek to find and purchase tickets for events. The skill will help drive revenue from questions asked. 3. NBCUniversal Hackathon for developing an app on "UP" band, that would help elderly people to change the channel in TV without the use of remote control. We also introduced an idea that is currently being used in some channels. The idea was when viewer of the channel pauses, the merchandise or products in that frame can be promoted for sale. This introduced a B2B concept. 4. Developed and proposed a Mechanical Turk app as a side project for Borderfree to fix one their biggest challenge of cross border ecommerce. Borderfree had a problem where orders placed in different countries were failing due to incorrect information processed by two tap. I'm a key driving force for the cause of diversity and inclusion at Bigcommerce for engineering org. After some of the legwork, management has started working on some initiatives that promotes inclusivity in our organization for diverse group of people.
